- The Honda Civic lineup gets some significant upgrades for the 2025 model year. All models get a sportier look with a front bumper redesign. But the big news is the return of the more fuel-efficient Civic hybrid to the lineup, which is available as a sedan or hatchback in two new trims: Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. The top-of-the-line Sport Touring Hybrid also gets new machine-finished wheels and built-in Google. A new 2.0-liter engine increases the fuel economy of the LX and Sport models. The turbocharged 1.5-liter is now exclusive to the Si sedan, and the manual transmission is limited to the Si and high-performance Type R. Honda has also improved the Civic's Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety features.

What Trim Levels are Available for the 2025 Civic?
The 2025 Honda Civic is available in sedan and hatchback models in six trims: LX (sedan only), Sport, Sport Hybrid, the sports-oriented Si sedan, Sport Touring Hybrid, and the higher-performance Type R hatchback. The Sport is the popular model, but we recommend the Sport Hybrid for most buyers.Â

The cabin has an attractive design. All controls are within easy reach and intuitive to use. It's also roomy - the front can comfortably seat taller and shorter passengers equally well, and the rear seats will accommodate average-size adults with no problem. Rear legroom is abundant and headroom is adequate. The Civic is also pleasingly easy to see out of.Â

Honda's infotainment systems have seen a marked improvement in the past few years. The 2025 Honda Civic LX, Sport, and Sport Hybrid trims have a standard 7-inch touchscreen, accompanied by power/volume and tuning/selection knobs. A row of buttons lets users skip music tracks, navigate the audio menu, and select among phone, radio, Bluetooth, and USB media. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the lineup. The Sport Touring Hybrid, Si, and Type R models get a 9-inch touchscreen with a volume knob and large icons. Mode selections are at the bottom of the touchscreen, and, in a nice touch, there's a space to rest your hand while operating the unit. The Sport Touring Hybrid also gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in Google, and a premium Bose audio system with 12 speakers.

How does the 2025 Civic Handle on the Road?
The 2025 Honda Civic LX and Sport trims are powered by a new, more efficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and a retuned continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims use a hybrid system similar to the one in the Honda Accord and Honda CR-V. In the Civic it makes 200 hp, which is plenty for most buyers. It also packs 232 pound-feet of torque, which is more than in the Si performance model. In addition to Normal and Eco driving modes, the hybrid trims have a Sport mode that provides a more performance-oriented feel. The fun-to-drive Si sticks with its turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that delivers 200 hp, fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. The Type R is the hottest of the Civics by a large margin. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 315 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Like the Si, it has a six-speed manual transmission. Every Civic is front-wheel drive.Â
